Accounting Clerk – Rockford, IL

Furst-McNess Company is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic person to fill its opening for an Accounting Cash Clerk in its Rockford, Illinois, facility. This position will be responsible for performing clerical accounting functions and work with employees, vendors, suppliers, and customers to ensure compliance and timeliness.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily scan checks to the bank and post payments.
  • Post cash payments for the locations.
  • Process manual customer ACH on the banking portal and post to ERP.
  • Process manual vendor ACH on the banking portal.
  • Reconcile daily cash postings for the operating accounts.
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements.
  • Create new vendors and ensure the vendor master data conforms to the internal control policy.
  • Ensure W-9 forms are received and completed accurately.
  • Backup for customer creation.
  • Matches vendor checks.
  • Assist with financial and bank audits.
  • Prepare sales tax returns.
  • Monitors sales tax exemption forms.
  • Prepare annual unclaimed property returns for all necessary states.
  • Provide backup for other accounting positions due to vacations, illnesses, and other absences.
  • Assists with month end review for cash accounts.
  • Perform support work on miscellaneous accounting projects as needed.
  • Perform other work-related duties as requested or required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be able to succeed within and adhere to the culture of the Furst-McNess Company.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation.
  • An associate degree in accounting or equivalent in related work experience in this industry
  • Ability to read, write and speak English, and access information from computer reports and computers.
  • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office products.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of work routines and the ability to perform assigned duties with minimal supervision.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written, and can utilize these skills at all levels of the Company as well as externally.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service to all associates and management staff, showing a sense of urgency relative to solving problems, performing assigned tasks, employee concerns, etc.
  • Ability to effectively organize work schedules and manages multiple assignments by utilizing time management skills to ensure day-to-day assignments and special projects are completed within guidelines agreed upon.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member within the finance department and company.  Willingness to pitch in and do work that may not be a specific part of the job description for the overall good of the department and company.
  • Ability to be flexible and be willing to change along with recommending changes that can enhance our ability to serve both internal and external customers more effectively and in a professional manner.  Respect other peoples’ points of view and able to take constructive criticism.

Drivers will be responsible for delivery of bag/bulk livestock feed directly to customers and branch plants and make backhauls as required by combination vehicle and straight trucks. Candidates must possess & maintain a valid class A or B CDL; have a record of safe and efficient commercial truck driving experience; the ability to operate a 2,000 lb. electric pallet jack; possess solid math skills; and have obtained a high school diploma or equivalent. Agricultural background is a plus. We haul our own products out of our company facilities. Drivers are paid hourly and return home most nights.

Feed Production/Warehouse Operators – 1st, 2nd & 3rd Shifts – Lodi, WI

Furst-McNess Company is seeking dynamic and assertive individuals for the positions of Feed Production/Warehouse Operator for our 1st, 2nd, & 3rd shifts.  These individuals will be responsible for responsible for manufacturing and packaging product adhering to standard operating procedures (SOP) and other regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe working environment by having unsafe conditions corrected immediately.  Has knowledge of and observe all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (“OSHA”) regulations.
  • Report any required equipment maintenance to supervisor and assist in repair as requested.
  • Formulate schedules with supervisor for routine building and grounds maintenance, preventative equipment maintenance, and ensures work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs as directed.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, skid steer, and pay loader equipment in the movement of materials and charge mixing equipment.
  • Operate batching, mixing and liquid systems as required.
  • Keep work areas clean and tidy.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures (“SOP”s).
  • Communicate raw material needs to supervisor, keeping ingredients at appropriate stock levels.
  • Effectively and efficiently, collect and communicate customer’s and sales staff’s delivery expectations, to the proper individuals.
  • Perform other work-related duties as requested or required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to maneuver heavy loads (up to 2,000 lbs. pallets) with a pallet jack; safely operate all equipment along with being a certified forklift operator.
  • Ability to perform cleaning operations while exposed to dusty environment, and ability to wear/use all appropriate protective equipment.
  • Ability to learn and comply with GMP and regulatory requirements imposed on manufacturing facilities by the FDA, OSHA, and EPA in regard to manufacturing products.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written, and can utilize these skills within all levels of the Company as well as externally.

Driver will be responsible for delivery of bulk and bagged livestock feed directly to customers and branch plants and make backhauls as required. Tractor trailers and straight trucks are both utilized.

Requirements:

  • Must possess & maintain a valid class A or B CDL
  • Have a clean MVR
  • A minimum of 2 years commercial truck driving experience
  • Ability to lift 50 lb. bags
  • Ability to operate a 2,000 lb. electric pallet jack
  • Possess solid math skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Agricultural background is a plus

 

We haul our own products out of our company facilities. Drivers are paid hourly and return home each night.
