Milk Replacers
Following colostrum feeding for 3 to 4 days, McNess Milk Replacer can be fed. Four milk replacer options are available to fit into the calf-rearing program. These milk replacers are based upon three combinations of protein sources - Milk and Animal Plasma, All Milk, or Milk and Soy. All products are blended with a special instantization process for fast, convenient mixing. All of the McNess milk replacers are highly fortified with vitamins and minerals, including B vitamins and trace minerals.
Acidified Stress Milk Replacer-NT (1133) features a blend of milk and animal plasma. A 20% protein, 20% fat, this product also supplies 400 and 200 grams of Neomycin® and Terramycin® respectively, to aid in the treatment and prevention of bacterial scours.
All Milk Acidified Milk Replacer-NT (1135) and Deccox (1136) are the McNess all milk products. Both are 20/20's, with 1135 containing the same medication combination as product 1133. Product 1136 contains Deccox to aid in the prevention of coccidiosis.
Instant-Mix Acidified Milk Replacer-NT (1132) is a combination of milk and soy. This product is 22% protein and 16% fat and contains Neomycin® and Terramycin® at 200 and 100 grams per ton to aid in the prevention of bacterial scours.
Calf Starters
McNess offers a complete line of calf starter products designed to provide high levels of medication and nutrients to get calves off to a fast start. All calf starter products are highly fortified with minerals and vitamins (including B vitamins) to promote growth. In addition to high levels of nutrients, McNess calf starters contain Zinpro's 4 Plex (a trace mineral amino acid complex blend for improved disease resistance) and Diamond V's XP yeast culture (to improve gains and intakes.) Three different calf starter options are available: Complete texturized feed, protein supplements, or premixes.
Calf Enhancer Starter-D (AA1425) Calf Enhancer Starter D is a texturized complete feed designed to be fed to calves while on milk replacer or whole milk. Calf Enhancer contains rolled corn, whole oats, supplement pellets and liquid molasses packaged in a 50-pound bag. Calf Enhancer is an 18 % protein feed. Elevated protein levels for starting calves have been very beneficial in promoting healthy, fast-growing calves. Deccox is added for coccidiosis control and improved daily gains. Medication levels are elevated (50 Grams per ton Deccox) to assure proper medication levels even at low intakes. A 150 pound calf only needs to consume 1.35 pounds of product to receive the proper level of Deccox. Offer fresh feed daily to calves starting at 3 to 4 days of age. Remove any left over feed daily. Calves should be eating at least 1 1/2 pounds per head per day when weaned. Early intake of calf starters will decrease the amount of time that calves need to be on milk replacers or whole milk.
McNess Calf Enhancer Supplement Pellets-D (AA1424) McNess Calf Enhancer Supplement Pellets-D (1424) is a pelleted calf supplement. These same 34% protein pellets are used in the manufacturing of Calf Enhancer Starter. Deccox level is 133.3 grams per ton. These pellets can be mixed with home grown grains to make a high quality nutrient dense ration. Recommended usage is 700 pound per ton of complete feed with corn and oats to make an 18% protein complete feed. These pellets can also be top dressed over high moisture grains.
McNess Calf Enhancer Mixer-TNT (1105) McNess Calf Enhancer Mixer-TNT (1105) is a 32 % protein meal calf supplement product formulated to be mixed with corn and oats. TNT is a broad spectrum antibiotic and growth promotant. Mixing 667 pounds of Calf Enhancer Mixer -TNT with 1033 pounds of corn and 300 pounds of oats will provide a high quality, economical starter ration. The resulting 17 % protein ration can be fed to calves up through 300 pounds of bodyweight. This ration is most often fed to calves after they have been started on a texturized feed.
MAXI-GROWTH Calf Premix D (1047), or B (1048) McNess Calf Premixes are designed to offer the combination of a highly fortified, low inclusion rate premix with the economy of using locally grown grains. Once a calf is about 200 pounds, a grain mix may be made using Maxi-Growth Calf Premix. Calf Premixes are especially formulated to meet the mineral and vitamin (including B-vitamins) requirements of rapidly growing calves. Whey is included to encourage a smooth transition from calf starters to a grain ration. Calf Premixes contain the recommended levels of Diamond V’s XP yeast culture to encourage intake and increase gains. These products contain the recommended levels of salt. No additional salt needs to be added to the ration. Deccox (1047) and Bovatec (1048) are the two additive options. Both additives are included at levels recommended for optimum health and performance results.
Scours Control
McNess offers two products to aid in the prevention/treatment of scours in calves. These products vary from a complete milk replacer treatment to products that can be added to the daily ration. These three products offer electrolytes alone or in combination with other nutrients and medications for convenient use.
McNess Calf-Care (1403) McNess Calf-Care is a combination of ingredients designed to provide the calf with extra nutrition and scour protection during periods of stress and sickness. McNess Calf-Care contains milk products, fat, available carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, electrolytes and antibiotics. It is designed to be fed in place of milk replacer. Since stressed and scouring calves will consume less feed, Calf-Care provides high levels of available energy and all-milk protein to provide the necessary energy and protein levels to meet calf needs. The correct level of electrolytes is effective in restoring the proper balance to the intestinal tract, to aid in the absorption and retention of fluids. In addition, the one-quarter pound (4 oz.) per feeding (twice daily) will provide each calf with 400 mg. of Neomycin base and 200 mg. of Oxytetracycline per gallon of reconstituted milk replacer plus 50,000 units of Vitamin A and 10,000 units of Vitamin D-3 per day. McNess Calf-Care is packaged for maximum convenience in 4-ounce packets (12 packets per dispenser box) to insure accurate feeding and freshness. It is available in case lots for additional savings. With the increased value of calves, every dairyman should have a box of Calf-Care in the calf area for easy access when stress or disease symptoms appear. This product requires a 30-day withdrawal prior to slaughter.
McNess Calf / Pig Booster-TNT with Electrolytes (1434) McNess Calf / Pig Booster-TNT contains two effective medications (Terramycin and Neomycin), vitamins and electrolytes. The Terramycin works in the bloodstream and Neomycin in the gut to prevent scours. Electrolytes included in Calf / Pig Booster-TNT will help reduce dehydration, and the high level of vitamins will help the animal through times of stress. The combination of these ingredients contributes to a quick recovery and renewed good health if scours should occur. McNess Calf/Pig Booster-TNT can be added to any non-medicated ration to supply the desired level of medication. McNess Calf / Pig Booster-TNT can also be mixed in non-medicated milk replacer or whole milk. For prevention of bacterial scours, mix one-half of the enclosed measure per two quarts of reconstituted milk replacer. For treatment of bacterial scours mix one measure per two quarts of reconstituted milk replacer. Remember that the usage of this product requires a 30-day withdrawal prior to slaughter.
