Free Choice Minerals
BovaMins 6, 9 & 12 - 5106-00, 5109-00, 5112-00 The BovaMin mineral line is designed to be fed free choice to cattle on pasture. This product is a complete mineral package that does not require additional on-farm mixing. The BovaMins feature high levels of trace minerals, especially copper and selenium to help reduce breeding and cleaning problems. The differences between the products are the calcium and phosphorus levels.
BovaMin 6 - 5106-00 - is a product designed for use with grass based forages. The product is the best choice for standard, year-round mineral feeding.
BovaMin 9 - 5109-00 - BovaMin 9 is designed to be used for mixed legume grass based forages. It has the same level of trace minerals as the BovaMin 6, but features a higher phosphorus level.
BovaMin 12 - 5112-00 - The BovaMin 12 product is designed to be used in areas with low phosphorus levels in the soil and features a higher phosphorus level that the BovaMin 9.
BovaBreeder 9 & 12 - 5169-00 & 5169-01 McNess BovaBreeders have been specifically designed to supply key nutrients in their most available form to provide improved breeding in cows and heifers. It features higher levels and greater availability of complexed trace minerals copper, manganese, zinc and cobalt from Zinpro’s ® Availa-4 ®. It also features elevated levels of Vitamin E to work in conjunction with selenium to reduce retained placentas and improve return to estrus. Breeder mineral is recommended for situations where breeding stock has a difficult time absorbing these nutrients due to nutrient antagonist or mineral deficiencies exist that can aggravate breeding problems. For maximum benefit, the feeding of the BovaBreeders should be limited to prebreeding, breeding and other stress times. BovaBreeder is designed to be offered free choice. The difference in the two products is the phosphorus levels of each.
BovaMag 5 - 5185-00 BovaMag 5 contains 10% magnesium and is designed to supply extra magnesium for cattle on lush pastures that are deficient in magnesium. All cattle on wheat pastures and lush, early spring pastures are subject to magnesium deficiency that may result in grass tetany. However, it is most common in mature beef cattle grazing young wheat pastures. To prevent grass tetany problems, cattle should be fed additional magnesium prior to going on lush pastures and all the time they are on these pastures.
BovaRange 17 - 5170-00 BovaRange 17 is a 17% protein premix product designed to be fed free choice to the stock cowherd. This special blend of soybean meal, corn distillers, vitamins and minerals should be fed when additional protein intake is desired along with vitamins and minerals. Vitamin and minerals levels match the levels provided in the BovaMin 6 product. BovaRange 17 should be fed when cattle are grazing residues from low yielding crops or low quality grass hay.
Mixing Minerals
The BovaMixer minerals were created for situations where free choice mineral feeding may not be the best way to deliver daily vitamin and mineral nutrition. These 2 products maintain the same high quality levels as the BovaMins, but are formulated to be included in grain mixes or protein supplements.
BovaMixer 10 - 5180-00 The BovaMixer 10 is an economical vitamin and mineral premix with a variety of ways it can be included in an animal’s diet. This product may be mixed with salt and fed free choice, it may be topdressed or mixed into a grain mix or supplement. This product is a 2:1 with 10% phosphorus.
BovaMixer 6-12 - 5182-00 BovaMixer 6-12 is the mineral of choice for those areas with hard water problems when more phosphorus and less calcium are needed. This product features sulfate based trace minerals to provide higher mineral availability in areas where antagonist mineral levels may be higher than normal. Daily consumption should be 2 ounces per head per day and may be fed free choice when mixed with salt, topdressed daily over grain, silage or supplement or mixed into a grain mix or protein supplement.
