Dairy Specialty Ingredient Representatitve - Wisconsin

Furst-McNess Company is seeking a dynamic, assertive individual for the position Dairy Specialty Ingredient Representative in Wisconsin.  This individual will be responsible for the achievement of sales and profit objectives of McNess-Micron product line products and services, with a keen focus on Equalize Dairy.



  • Spearhead sales growth with extreme focus on sales of Equalize Dairy in the designated region achieving annual business plan objectives.
  • Conduct prospect and client sales calls through effective use of needs based professional sales skills.
  • Win and develop new business through effective sales presentations to producers, influencers and feed mills either in your own capacity or by utilizing the appropriate expertise of technical, business or other support resources.
  • Uncover leads and opportunities for other products in the McNess-Micron line (feed & forage preservation products and nutraceutical products) and forward to the Business Manager for follow-up.
  • Actively maintain a top 20 prospect list within the defined territory.
  • Provide appropriate and timely product and program training to field sales staff and support team members as needed in driving strategic business objectives.
  • Communicate business development opportunities and participate in development of same as needed.
  • Assist in generating, developing and incorporating new product ideas.
  • Communicate needs for and development of new, effective, marketing materials.
  • Ensure timely movement of products from the supply/manufacturing source as per contracted commitments and meet timely delivery needs of customer.
  • Where appropriate, create and manage distribution networks and order fulfillment processes for targeted products.
  • Be the Company liaison in the region of responsibility and with any assigned supply sources or manufacturers.
  • Participate in the development of and successful implementation of the McNess-Micron product line strategic plan.
  • Maintain accounts receivables with customers as per Company policy and procedures.
  • Resolve customer concerns and questions in a timely manner, independently or through the utilization of other resources within the Company, as required.
  • Participate in internal meetings and constructively interact with the entire team.
  • Participate in industry associations as appropriate and as directed.
  • Perform other work related duties as requested or required.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be able to succeed within and adhere to the culture of the Furst-McNess Company.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation.
  • Education equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree along with 10 years’ work experience or Master’s/PhD degree along with 5 years’ work experience in Agri-Business, Dairy Science/Animal Science, or related degree.  Sales experience in forage & feed products, mycotoxin remediation products, and nutraceuticals is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office products; knowledge of Lotus Notes software is beneficial.
  • Must be a dynamic individual who is entrepreneurial, resourceful, and achievement oriented with exceptionally strong feed industry experience.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member and help further develop the “group or team concept”.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, utilizing these skills within all levels of the Company as well as externally.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service to all associates, management staff, and external customers, showing a sense of urgency relative to solving problems, performing assigned tasks, employee concerns, etc.
  • Ability to effectively organize work schedules and manage multiple assignments by utilizing time management skills to ensure day-to-day assignments and special projects are completed within guidelines agreed upon.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member within the team and company.  Willingness to pitch in and do work that may not be a specific part of the job description for the overall good of the department and company.
  • Ability to be flexible and be willing to change along with recommending and making changes that can enhance our ability to serve both internal and external customers more effectively and in a professional manner.  Respect other peoples’ points of view and able to take constructive criticism.
  • Ability to travel, either by car or by commercial plane, including overnight stays, as business dictates.  Must always possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record (within guidelines set forth in company vehicle policy).
